South Africa, October, 2006
We thank you all for your incredible support in the ministry. All that you have given through prayer, finances, and words of encouragement have worked to increase the fruit bearing through our lives. Let us take a few minutes to give you some insight into recent happenings on the field.
The Kickoff
This past month, September 2006, we have had several exciting things happen. For one “Joe Joe” Majola was baptized. This falls under the category of an answered prayer. I will save embarrassment of myself with the comical way this baptism took place. It is our desire to see all who make a profession of faith follow in believer’s baptism. Thank you for praying for this young man. Your prayers have been heard. He still needs your prayers because he is battling many issues in his life. Another great step forward is that the missionaries that live nearby have gotten together and started a Bible Institute. It kicked off this past Saturday. I have begun teaching Bible Survey from 4pm-6:30pm. There are nine students in my class and we had blast studying the scriptures together. Two of the nine are Sipho and Paul. Pray for this class and the institute that it would be a great aspect of the training that the people need to receive.
Achievers
Each week we are picking up the guys I am working with in KwaZakhele. My dream is that these young men would be a vital part of the future ministry as they grow in Lord. They are continuing to grow in their personal and public walk with God. Their devotions and Bible study is growing as a priority in their life. They are beginning to “hold the bottle by themselves” you could say. On the other hand their public walk is also growing rapidly. They are bringing loads of people to church with us. When I arrive to pick them up they are usually double in number with new faces each week. I hope that this will continue when we start a Xhosa speaking church. Please make the first church plant a great matter of prayer.
The Big Question
“The Big Question”- That was a great issue on the local news channel here in South Africa. That question asked if it “is right to convert someone to another religion?” The majority of South Africans voted no. It gave great insight as some of the leading religions of South Africa told of their beliefs about Heaven and God. The African Indigenous Church or religion was given ample opportunity to explain their religion. It accumulated into nothing more that confusion. It was very, very, sad to hear for many South Africans and Xhosa speaking people for that matter are wrapped in the bondage of this religion. They believe their ancestors are the way to heaven and in the words of their religious teacher they do not believe in Jesus Christ. Ask the Lord to give us wisdom to help these people because many who claim to be Christian also trust ancestry worship as the avenue to Heaven.
Until Next Time
Corli and Clark are doing well and we all would like to send our regards to each of you who are taking part in helping this ministry. Until next time you hear from us may we all move forward in God’s plan for our lives! |
